The class covers a wide range of topics of interest to single parents, including maintaining faith and hope, dating and courtship issues, healing through Christ, finances, fitting in your ward family, overcoming loneliness, parenting, helping children deal with death or divorce, and preparing to blend families. Registration (at the door) is $10.00 for the entire course, and students can join the class at any time. Reading packets are $5.00. The class will be taught by Sister Cheryl Merrell. The class covers a wide range of topics of interest to single parents, including maintaining faith and hope, dating and courtship issues, healing through Christ, finances, fitting in your ward family, overcoming loneliness, parenting, helping children deal with death or divorce, and preparing to blend families. Veterans Day
On Nov 11, 1918 at 11:00am, World War I ended. On that same day in 1920 Great Britain buried an unknown soldier in Westminster Abbey, while France did the same at the Arc de Triomphe. The United States followed suit in 1921 at Arlington National Cemetery. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month became famous. In 1926 it was called Armistice Day by congressional decree because hostilities were to end forever. It became a national holiday in 1938. Unfortunately peace was short-lived. With the concept of 'armistice' being defiled and to honor veterans of all wars, the name was changed to "Veterans Day" in Alabama in 1947 and became official in 1954. In 1968 Congress foolishly changed the day to the fourth Monday in October. Americans balked at this history fudging, so it was changed back in 1978. Symbolic of those who gave their lives in wars, the 3rd US Infantry stands guard over Arlington's 'unknown graves' 24-7.
